store front top windows
« on: April 13, 2011, 07:28:10 PM »
Hey all :)

got asked if i could do the upper windows few times a year(inside+out). Ill take it on IF i can avoid renting a lift at all costs lol

The inside has very deep ledges as you can see from the video

So was wondering what you guys might recommend?

or maybe just a ledger?
thanks in advance

Looks pretty high up from the pics and video.

Outside doesn't look too bad but the inside.............Might be worth renting a lift? You could dust/vacuum or whatever while you are up there.

I've never done one quite like that.

Never used the curved pole. Looks good. A ledger would work. Wagtail has a short angled piece that I always carry. Acts like short, 12 inch extension or ledger. How high up do you have to reach?

As far as deep ledges go, I find that the zero degree squeegees work best for this scenario (Unger 0 degree swivel lock and Ettore Contour Pro + ) I haven't been that impressed with ledgers. You could rent a lift, it would be safer, however it may eat up all your profit margin. It's hard to tell exactly what they best way to clean these windows is from just a picture. That being said, I can clean 95% of windows with either a ladder, a pole or a combination of both. I will use a pole while I am on a ladder if I need to reach sideways or the windows I am cleaning are extra large etc. I would recommend looking into a swiveling 0 degree squeegee and a swiveling T-bar. To detail edges, it is handy to have an Unger Fixi Clamp as well.

Looks like a good tool to have.

Could have used that on a job we used to do years ago.

Been using the zero degree swivel for a few weeks now

Absolutely love it !

I have literally cut some places down in half time ....HALF!

some windows i fan with the pole, looks very cool being done lol ( if clients are watching )

on the large 8' windows  before i had to pole clean the top part to where i could reach, then grab squeegee and manually fan and bend over at the end. Now just one straight swoop all the way down,So Fast!

Also works great for small windows just above doors that have the automatic opening mechanisms...no problem to get over those now.

Even did a peak 20' up. No problems.

If you clean windows, you absolutely need this squeegee. It has made w/c even more enjoyable
