Mechanic - Repair Specialist Needed
« on: January 10, 2010, 01:35:57 PM »
We need a mechanic/repair guy since my lovely vans only breaks down at the worst times.  As of right now we've spent way more than we wanted on the main vehicle, but we need it to be on the road w/out any problems.  When the van is working fine, the candidate can wash it.  Right now it seems to be working well, after we replaced a bad fuel pump.

The pay is $600-$800 a month, depending on qualifications.  You provide labor, we buy parts.

That is the current going rate where I'm at(see avatar for geographical location).

Thanks.

Alright, I'll do it. Do I get benifits? I need a good dental plan and require 8 weeks paid vacation. I also want home cooked meals everyday.

My van has been breaking down alot as well Bill. I sank over 4K into it this last year.  >:(

Sounds like thats a new vehicle payment rather than a repair. I have also sunk alot in my van this year vehicles are like humans, the older we get the more it cost to maintain us.

Yea,

I think I've spent double of what i've paid for the thing.  Sometimes I think of downsizing to a smaller van, if my equipment were to fit.  I guess I just want a new vehicle, don't mind having payments if I don't have to spend $500-$2k once a month to keep the thing in good condition.

I feel your pain.

I spent $700 today for struts, springs and alignment :-\

Not so bad considering I've got 145k on it and, knock on wood, haven't had to do anything but routine maintenance.

When the time comes I am seriously thinking of going with a Ford Transit and pulling a 4X6 trailer when needed (trailer will hold T&G equipment only). Blue Transit with matching trailer should look good. Having a 4 cylinder engine will be nice. The 2008 Ford escape I just sold had the same engine and it is enough engine to haul LM equipment around.
I am just about out of patience with all the problems my van has had this past year. I need it to last another couple years...(crossing fingers).

I just replaced my water pump in my van, the shop wanted $500 to do it, I bought the parts for $100 and did it myself in a few hours.

When i bought my van i took it to 2 shops to check the van out they both told me the van was in good condition.  Than I start having all types of issues, so I'm just hanging on to it till I can make a purchase that won't be this type of van anymore.  I'm also thinking of a new car like the transit or an used 07+ sprinter.  My only concern with the transit is the limited space to carry equipment for dehus and fans, but for everyday carpet n tile, should do the job.
