what do you guys think?
« on: July 18, 2010, 09:13:42 AM »
I was looking for a more affordable dry foam upholstery tool.  I found this tool that can be used in car upholstery and basically the entire car.  Take a look and let me know if this would work.

Nice site here a few suggestions, on home page list NO Open doors-Library quiet, No hose's to create wall and floor damage. Also suggest less description on the mechanics of your system, more before and after pics. Get established on Angies List refer your customers to Angies List to see what others have to say about your service, they are  independent testimonials.

Never heard of it or seen it......are you going ot carry an air compressor around to run it? I have a 26 gal 135 max psi single stage air compressor and it will barely run my HVLP guns.

Just something to think about.

Jose, You should check with Andy on the Von Schrader.  It's petty much foolproof and cleans most things well.  I used mine for about a year and a half for upholstery.  I use it primarily for cleaning small area rugs and handmade rugs in my shop.  If it has a black brush you could use it for cleaning stairs too.  It's much better than the equipment you considering.

Jose - Had problem with that video address so here's one.

Very interesting looking tool. Kind of like a steam vapor machine but without the heat.

Nice tool...but again, you must have an air compressor that can keep up which means....you will be bringing the work to you.

Can't imagine the Ladies would be happy with that foam being sprayed on their furniture and I'd be concerned with over wetting, shrinking and overspray onto floors.  Just a few thoughts.

Would be kinda cool to have the first tool to clean my car with!

How much is cheap?

$200   plus shipping  ,  it works just fine although the vac is a bit weaker than it used to be.  Let me know if your interested, I can make a video of it in action so you can see how it works and what it looks like.

Now that's a great deal! ;D

Vonschrader is a great way to get into low moisture upholstery cleaning. I don't think you could beat Andy's offer.

Andy, I video would be great!  Also, the vacuum thing, does that mean it requires more dry passes?  How does the suction loss affect the performance of the machine?  What equipemnt did you get to replace this one?

C.B., I just thought that like a 5 gallon compressor would be good enough and a managable size.  Just looking for ways to save right now but, trying to look professional at the same time.

A 5 gal most likely wont keep up. Honestly, I would move away from this tool for Upholstery cleaning and get something that is designed to do upholstery. If you want a 5 gallon box extractor (100 psi), I have an Elky Pro that is just sitting around. It is 13 years old but VERY dependable. Never had one problem with it. Will even include 10-15 ft of vac and solution line. You will need the upholstery tool.

$100 + shipping

Jose,
I'll post a video on this thread tomorrow for you.  The primary function of the vac is to remove excess foam / moisture. and it still dose that  fine. The cleaning is done by the foam/brush action.

Wow!  Both sound like great deals.  Now my head is spinning trying to figure out which one would be ideal for me.  Having both would be great, but need to save up some cash in order to get both at the same time.

I can't wait to see that video.

I like Andy's for upholstery cleaning and the elky for pet odor removal with a water claw.

Any room for negotiation lol?

Get both, get a part time helper, upsell uph in the home, 2-3 jobs will pay for both machines, plus the part time helper's pay, and you can enjoy your cold water while you chit chat with the housewife.
