sofa prices?
« on: July 22, 2010, 03:33:57 PM »
was looking at cleaning magazine the other day and it showed national average for carpet cleaning was .33 , which is ballpark for this area.  Got to looking at upholstery prices and magazine was claiming $17.00 per liner foot, while local prices are about $10.00 per liner foot.  Man, that can add up to some hurt after awhile .

Not to be to nosey but what are average prices in your areas?   I would like to be a liitle closer to the national average, because I hate working for cheap!  I guess some of these outfits in the area are still in the darkages!

Depends on what your process involves.

Inspect / Fabric ID / Vacuum / Clean / Extract / Deodorize / Spot Treatment / Protector

I'm usually over $17. Way over with those 20 piece sectionals.

when the consumer had truely nice upholstered furniture, and i was hot and heavy doing upholstery, i had 3 price ranges..............

steam clean-------------9.00 per lf
dry/solvent clean----15.00  per lf
shampoo/steam-----18.00  per lf

those prices were back in the 80's till 1990-1991 at which point i no longer offered upholstery cleaning, seeing that most consumer was hell bent on buying crap furniture like ya see in walmart or target!!

i can train a monkey in 2 hrs to clean todays fabrics   :'(

We used to charge about what Chem does 10 years ago.

Since pricing hasn't changed much I'm guessing that's close for today?

Micky hit the nail on the head. Since most of the stuff out there isn't that expensive its hard to charge a lot to clean it.  :P

Yeah, my prices for upholstery have been the same for 13 years. I already have customers that think it's to high.

I should add that if they want to add addtional upholstery work I will give a discount but obly if a couch or sectional is full price to start, I find this will normally get atleast an addtional chair into the invoice

Thanks for that Info, It looks like my upholstery prices  have been like Chems.   (I've only had about Half dozen upholstery jobs in a couple of years, so I can't say that I'm loosin' money!) ;D
