Pews

Won the carpet cleaning bid for a church. Anyone have experience with cleaning pews quickly to help reduce cost as asked?
They don't get the time involved.

I have done a ton of them. Makita with 8" Tuway is fast but may not give the best results (depends on soil load and fabric) but, that is the best way I have found. It is a pain using an upholstery machine if the pews are real long due to not being able to get the machine in the isles where you sit.

George, did a sanctuary that had pew seating for about 400. I used the step son and small glad. A little hard on the back, but way fast. Kept a vapor steamer handy for stains. This was a church that allowed drinks in the service.

Congrats on getting that bid George.  :great:

Agree with the above. Padcap or encap if possible.

My back feels for you.

Are you guys talking about cleaning fabric covered pews or cleaning the carpet in between the pews?

The main soil seems to be at the top where people place their hand to move down the pew. Told them I would do half of one when doing the carpet and let them decide if it's worth it. Not much that can be done with price.
Thanks for the help.

Imagine how heavy a stepson would feel after a couple of hours of doing just the back rest of all the pews.

Most likely will. I have the OnSite portable. Easy to move around and uses little water. Add some peroxide encap to the rinse and can move quickly.

Mo is right. No imagination needed. The step son is a heavy grind when doing the back of the pews this way.

I have done A LOT of them, but the last time I had a helper.  I pre-vac'd, he pre-sprayed, and I would alternate between an upholstery tool for the edges and a stair tool for the body.  I don't remember how many we did but it was a lot, super long.  The stair tool allowed me to cover much more fabric in less time.  Used fans.  Dry when we left.

Show and tell.

Cup and half of dust from vacuuming only 1 side.

Extracted quite a bit more.

Pic shows the difference in color after removing the dust and dirt. Left side only has been cleaned.
