Microfiber or not
« on: August 30, 2008, 01:59:58 AM »
I had a lady this week that i did a cleaning and i mentioned to her we also do upholstery.  She showed me her couch which it's hard to described how it looks, but it had a nice light shade of green and it felt and looked like microfiber to me.  When you put your hand on the pillows it gives that nice feel of microfiber also leaves your fingerprints on the material.  I actually thought it was leather at first.  I've done plenty of uph b4 w/ hwe but never came across this type of couch.  It had that contemporary look to it.

I checked the tag and it said polyurethane foam body along w/ polyester body i believe? Somewhere along those lines.  Also, checked to see if it mentioned how it should be cleaned but could not find it anywhere.

My method that i have at the moment is pre vac, encap w/ sea sponge, horse hair brush, towel, post vac.

This is when i wished i had taken an uph class.  :-\

Does sound like Microfibre can't be sure without pictures. Start on the back and see if any problems though doubtful, use low moisture and neutral PH cleaner, horse hair and towels should do fine. I'm doing upholstery today as well, and I beleive its also Microfibre haven't seen it yet.

I'm gonna give it a try, should i just pre spray the chem or should i do like Joe's method of putting an encap product into a bucket and wimping it into a foam and using a sea sponge?

Also, which neutral ph do you guys usually use for uph and or microfiber?

Could i use snapencap, encapgreen, abstraction vlm? Trying to go thru what i still have if possible.

Bill-
This may be to late you may have already cleaned, but check your ph on what you have neutral ph being 7 and most encap products are around 8-8.5 you should be okay. I use a spray bottle but bucket would be okay also, I find controling how much is put on is easier for me with spray bottle.

I use Masterblends fabric prespray. I will even use Encap Green too. I always spray on and extract.
