Chem in holding tank?
« on: August 19, 2011, 07:06:17 PM »
Do any of you put an upholstery chem in with your fresh water when cleaning upholstery or do you just prespray the fabric first or both?

My old Chemdry boss used to put an upholstery cleaner in with the fresh water and then prespray the fabric as well. My other Chemdry boss only presprayed the fabric and then used just freshwater out of the holding tank on the upholstery machine. I do the same.

Apply a formulated upholstery prespray then agitate if needed.

Put a rinse agent into your machine. It can be acid, neutral or high PH depending on what you are cleaning. Most upholstery jobs would call for acid to 7 PH range.

while its been eons since i've done upholstery cleaning, the only time i'd put the cleaner in the fresh water tank is when i used haitian cotton shampoo/cleaner.
otherwise, just like mike suggests is how i did it!

I add a chem that is pretty much neutral. Rarely have to prespray.
I found for greasy hair and ARM rests a shot of go-jo works pretty good. Better than any other prespray I used.

Deodorizer and sometimes a small amount of encapsulant.

You guys....Iam not asking HOW to clean upholstery. I already know how to. I am just asking if you put a chem in your fresh water tank or not. This isn't a "teach me how to clean upholstery" thread......Mike & Burtonblue.

Yes or No?

I never ran water only in any machine (carpet or upholstery, portable or TM).
