one 2 stage vac and a 60 psi pump on a machine that looks very awkward to transport for $900 doesn't look appealing to me.

From the upholstery class, I remember the instructor saying that heated water wasn't important. Used cold water to extract a couple of microfiber pieces and they cleaned up nicely.
They were pushing the drimaster tool for upholstery. After using it, I'm in favor of the tool with just about any portable.

The drimaster tools do use a lot of water though.

At least both of mine did.

That's what I have always used was "warm" water from the tap to do upholstery (Mike M. has my old upholstery machine). There are times when I wish I had some heat to help break up dirt. I am still thinking of Eds QuikSteam with maybe a bucket heater for when I need more fighting power.

I HAD one of those drimasters for a day and sent it back. Not at all impressed.

The one I used had a solution shut off knob but still used a whole tank of water.

jon,

those thermax machines are pretty decent (actual build) but can be a bear to do work on cause may parts are proprietary! at least thats how they use to be. that may have changed over the years!!!
most of them come with very small heating elements too. they're not designed to heat water to boiling, or make water hot for that matter. the purpose of the lil heater is to warm up the solution water, with cleaning agent already in solution water, to make it work better. as most everyone knows, the warmer water is, the better cleaning can be obtained!

weak vacuums, lame heaters, etc......

Thermax machines are awesome. For at home or shop type of upholstery cleaning. Too heavy to lug in and out of a van.
I would recommend the kleen-rite units. I was stupid and sold mine when I was in need of money. I think mine was the mx512. And of course I had the recirculating tool too.
Now I'm stuck using my big loud porty for up jobs.
I have been finding out on big couches with 5 foot cushions I just use my stair tool with truckmount. Done in five minutes. Lol.
