No one looking for subs?

Guess you want to do it all yourself? I haven't gotten a call recently for sub contract work. Usually you hear from some management company looking for subs.

Had an article in the paper here yesterday about how 6 of 10 Quiznos in the state have gone out of business within one year of opening. Owners say it is due to high fees from corporate and lack of sales. They never even came close to corporat projections.

Seriously though.......I guess there isn't much subcontracting being done? We do it locally and have for years. I know it is done by some MMM's but there must be some decent ones out there.

i believe there is more subbing being done then most CC'ers will admit to.  subbing as you know, does pay less, and thats a blow for some ego's out there. most those MMM's (at least the ones i know) sub between themselves. on ocassion they outsourse.
one good company that comes to mind is trammel-crow? hope i recalled the name correctly
they handle most bank of america (if not all) here in florida! this i know from my bank manager as she asked me to bid for the accounts. but as you know, i dont do commercial

Micky - Funny you should mention Trammel-Crowe. They got bought out the end of last year by CBRichard Ellis. Multibillion dollar deal. These companies are worldwide and huge.

A lot of my old contacts from MBNA went to work for them after MBNA got bought out by Bank of America. I've done some sub work for ABM Janitorial (another MBNA contact works there) and another company that has national contracts for carpet cleaning. We may get the carpets at most of the bank branches in the state this year by subbing for that company.

So basically I'm still working for some of these same people in a round about way.

wow mike, i had no clue they were bought out, then again, i have not seen my banker here since fall last year when i triple comboed her home.
triple combo means, power washed, carpets, upholstery
she was astounded with pad cleaning and wondered about me servicing her branch along with all the others here in polk county.

these corporate buyouts come and go so quick, most of the public dont know which way is up anymore

I agree with the buyout thing.

In my end of the business it's hard to keep up sometimes.

Micky - I didn't realize you were in Polk County. My father in law lived there for years before he passed away. Used to go there every winter to visit. He lived in Polk City not too far from the prison. Talk about growth! I probably wouldn't recognize the exit now. Used to be nothing there, just like Maine. That is why he and a bunch of other Mainers moved there.

yes mike, polk county. i've owned property in winter haven and lakeland for years but now just own the joint i'm in now
being a landlord is no longer my cup of tea

polk city has grown in leaps and bounds these last 5yrs or so. i can not begin to tell you how much work i've done there. have also done tons of work in pasco county too!

lotsa my neighbors are from maine mike. lots from michigan too.

i'll be putting my home on the market soon and will finally end my thrill with florida. i been doing the back and forth thing over 20yrs and quite honestly, i'm tired of it
i belong in jersey, my home state

i'm heading over to st pete today to see an old friend i went to grammar school with. if i have time, i might stop by to see rick gelinas at his business and look into this encap thing. plus its always nice to meet those you've helped in the past

once back home, maybe come pay you mainers a visit and see if we cant get some power washing going

I like to visit there but neither my wife or I have ever wanted to move there. Her father tried for years to get us to move near him.

I always liked Lakeland. Lots of shopping.

Definately check in with Rick while you are down that way. I've never met him but seems like he is willing to help people out.

All this talk about pressure washing reminds me to stop by and see MR.Clean. He hasn't posted here in a while. I should stop by just to harass him! Of course I would have to shop for a new machine while there. Just to be polite.

mike,
there is soooooooooo much shopping around here its not funny. winter haven too! i sometimes get dizzy trying to figure out what store to go to when needed   then again, florida is a tourist trap and a haven for the proverbial snowbird    so to go along with the shopping, there are some great places to eat also!
might also be why i gained so much weight

i did manage to stop by rick's place but being unannounced, he was not there   but his gal beth was. what a sweet young lady
i took that vento machine for a quick whirl while i was there. definately a nice looking machine and good size too!
will see if i can get out that way again next week.
