Yes I use it Tim. What I like most about it is that there is no monthly fee.

I was checking out the website and it looks like a pretty good deal, every were I have checked wants so much per month just to be able to run credit cards. Do you need to have the card scanner? or can you punch it in manually thru the website?

You can call it in or punch the CC number to website. If you buy the card reader you can scan the cc to get approval and the upload when you get back to the office.

I have been using Propay for almost a year now. I pay $60.00 for the whole year. It's a nice system but you wont get your funds into your own business account for 4-6 days. Other than that it is nice. I like not having a monthly fee so it is worth the wait on my funds.

The only bad thing I see about that is ........what if the card is rejected?

Just saw an ad for Intuit in Cleanfax? Not sure if theirs is the same or if it processes it right off. I remember reading it works with Blackberry and some others.

That"s why I want to buy the card reader. But you can still go to your van and use you phone to get it approved

Interesting.  I took a look at the pricing and while the monthly fee is minimal, the rates are very high  :o.    Plus if they are indeed holding onto your money for 4 or more days that is double the norm.  Don't just look at the monthly fee.  You may think you are getting a good deal but instead paying through the nose on your transaction rates and not having access to your money in a day or two.

Yeah the transactions rates are kind of high Troy. I've seen rate as low as 1.50 % the lowest with Propay is 2.69.  I probably wouldn't be using them if I had a lot of CC transactions.

Who are you using and what are your monthly, annual, and per trancaction fees?

Hey Mo,

Im not using anyone at the moment.  Too new at this but will certainly accept cards in the future.  Merchant services is a very competitive market and something worth shopping around for and reviewing annually.  Running the numbers and comparing the rates and fees will help to see if one is truly getting a good deal.  No sense in going after a low monthly fee when you are bleeding to death on per transaction rates, transfer fees to your checking account, etc.  The swiper is a fantastic idea because your rates are always lower on swipes than manual entry.

It really boils down to how many cc transactions you make per month. Having NO monthly fee but higher transaction rates works well for me because I only run 3-5 cc's a month. If you want to start out in this business and have a small client base and want the low transaction rates and are willing to pay a monthly fee (usually around $30). Then feel free. Been there and done that. Not worth it and is more money out of my pocket than having the higher rates.

I use and Intuit cc pay system that I access directly from Quickbooks and it integrates with QB book keeping flow. Makes it convenient. I can do phone approval in the field. However, it seems that most of the customers that want to use a credit card are my higher end customers. I hold their card numbers, securely, at home.

One thing I've noticed; when I have card numbers on file up sales seem easier. Kind of supports what we hear in the news. People who are shopping using a credit card will tend to spend more than with shopping with cash or checks. "If you would like I can clear your gutters before doing your windows and just put it on the card I have on file."

The card reader only reads the cards information, it doesn't approve the card.  It's just a time saver if you're solo and don't have a way to run the card on the job.  When I get a card, I call the office and have Liz run the card online.  I can also call Propay from my phone and run it that way, but I enjoy making someone else work.

I'd love to upsell using cards, tried that but haven't had many people go with that yet.
