STUFFING a 2001 GMC Safari
« on: May 05, 2008, 08:02:07 PM »
How do you get:

(2) Op machines
(1) Prespray setup
(1) Spoting machine
(1) Vapor machine
(1) Vacuum
(1) CRB machine
(3) 5 Gal Pepsi tanks
(40) Pads

An assortment of chems, parts, misc brushes, 10 gallons of water, stairtool, rake, extension cords, towels?

It took some time and a few engineers from NASA but I did it!

Did the shelves and safety divider come with the van or did you add them? Nice setup. From the pics looks like you have room to spare!  ;D The clips on the roof for the grandi is a good idea.

I don't have shelves in mine... obviously that was a HUGE oversight when I got my van.  I take the minimal amount of chems with me, just try to cover the bases.

You certainly still have your van looking pretty good.  Looks like you got your HOS back and working right.

I realized how much of the stuff is just for "contingencies" yesterday.  I went 50 miles down south to do my mother in laws house and needed to bring back several pieces of furniture with me.  So all I took was one OP machine, a vacuum, one bucket, 20 pads, a sprayer, and a gallon of UR Out. It all fit in about the first 3 feet behind the seats and all the furniture fit nicely behind it on the way home.

Grant - You just pointed out what a lot of us have done in the past.........carry a lot of stuff we don't really need.

Get rid of the extra weight. It will help with mileage and the vehicle will last longer. I only load for the days jobs now. Some days I only need a few pieces of equipment, some days I need a lot. I pretty much know what I will need to use for any particular jobs I run into because most are repeat.

If you like shelves or dividers they are readily available from various sources. I just use plastic totes or buckets for my stuff. Makes it easier to load/unload too.

Between office paper organizing and materials/equipment organizing I think I spend about an hour a day just organizing and picking up after myself. Eventually, I think I want to go with an Astro or Safari set up for windows and a trailer set for carpet, tile, ceilings. When I need both, I take both. Cost on redundancy of equip would be recouped by saved time. Just staying organized is a chore, but it sure eliminates headaches.

You have WAY too much room in there. Start a home handymand business and fill that thing up!

Wow I think i can fit a 2 bedroom apt in mine!

Well i got the 2001 GMC Savanna 2500.

Those shelves look smaller than mine or maybe it's just the way the picture was taken? Mine for some reason look longer in length but not as thick, i guess it's a different design.  I have the Adrian Steel, similar setup 3 shelves plus partition.  But i took one shelve out the one to the right as i wanted some room to put large rugs in, and I couldn't figure out how to put the partition inside so i never added that one either.

How do you keep your pads from not falling? I have my pads in the middle, if i stacked 'em up high they would all tip over.  So i have an entire spot just for them, well glads/cottons on one, and small 8 in fiber pads above, and red/white/beige up top.

Thinking of switching to the Mytee shelves and that would give us more room and less weight in the van.

Okay, Jon, now show us what it looks like after you've been working all day. If you are this organized, I'll pay you handsomely and pay for your entire family to move here to work with me. This is the equivalent of my first girl friends glamor shot, which was quite different than her church picnic shot. Just ribbing ya. Nice set up.

I'm now using a 5 by 12 trailer. Add to your list a dual tank water purification system with two poles for window washing, small tool kit, too full sets of traditional window washing equip (belts, squeegee, etc) an extra box of spare channels, blades, strip washers, neoprene gloves, a caddy with basic cleaning supplies, a spare tire, business yard signs. Did I mention the tile and grout tool set and equip. I add that only when I need it. There are days when it ends up looking like a pile of junk I throw in the back. Probably because there are days when it is a pile of junk I throw in the back.

Seriously, I'm seriously liking working from a trailer. I'm looking at a truck and dreaming about a 6 by 12 trailer with back and side door. Right now I just have a back door and it's a pain.

Yesterday, I power washed a home. Anyone up for a dual axle carrying all the above plus hose reals, generator, pump and 225 gallon tank? Easy, Eric, not yet, not yet, not yet...

Eric, Sounds like you need 2 trailers one for the window cleaning and the other for carpet and T&G

I will post a pic of the inside of my van in about a month when my new portable, spinner, sqeegie wand, carpet wand, external heater arrives. So I will have all of that plus and Orbot, HOS, Spotting machine, CRB, Vapor machine, 2 Multisprayers (probably will just have one in there), Pads, Chems, Hoses......Oh BOY!! This is going to be a challenge!

I was trying to post some pics of my van and my computer crashed 4 times while I was trying to do it.  I guess I can't post pics any more.  It's not the site, it's my computer.  I think it's days are numbered.

Mo the problem is my computer crashes when I click to download them from my cell phone to my computer.  I'm not sure why it's doing that all of the sudden. Every picture I've posted the last year has been taken on my phone.

BTW, I'm only carrying the Defender right now. Would take different setup for hard floor work.

I'll post pics of the trailer only after Jon comes and organizes it all for me. Too embarasing otherwise.
