Kerry: Slate Tile
« on: January 21, 2009, 12:49:33 PM »
I was looking at some dated postings. You completed a slate floor job in July, 08. You stated that the floor was steamed and then applied a solvent based enhancer.

I am still in the learning stages. So here are some questions: Instead of using steam to clean the slate, would it have been possible to use a 175 rotary with a scrub brush and an alkaline cleaner?

Is the enhancer the same as a sealer?  How long would it maintain the wet look?

Thanks,

Juan

I'm not Kerry, but I have some relatives in County Kerry. Hope thats close enough.
You can clean slate exactly like you said.  You can even use an acid to clean the
grout lines since slate isnt acid sensitive like marble.
Just check to make sure the brush your using doesnt leave marks on
the slate. Always test before doing.
