Just got the van back.
« on: April 30, 2008, 12:26:56 PM »
Finally got 'er done.

Here's the before and after... Now I'll keep the magnets to put on the backup vehicle when/if the van ever goes down.  The new pics are low quality because I took them with my phone but you get the idea.  Much more professional!  They were supposed to put the "green" phrase on the back just below the window but misinterpreted what I told them. No worries, I'll have that put on later. Still lots of room to add more stuff later.

Quiz question:  How much do you think it cost to get this done?
After a few guesses I'll let you know.

Look cool Grant, you're phone number is nice and big.  Did you ever get any jobs with the magnets? I received one inquiry, but no jobs from my magnetic signs. Let us know when you get your first job from the wrap. My guess would be $495.00.

And either flip the tires so they are blackwalls, or get some really nice white letters with those customs rims... ;D

Are you guys serious about the tires?  They are only 1 year old...  ???

Couple more comments and I'll let you know what I paid for it...

Yes, I'm serious.  :o

I like Mike's idea about the white letters on the tires too.  ;D

This should make you a nice work van Grant. Hope you get lots of work from the lettering.

Agreed, the whitewalls need to be mounted towards the inside and the running boards need to come off. I like the graphics.
Grant- I will change my answer to FREE or you bartered for it?

I paid $360 for it. I had a skewed sense of how much this stuff would cost so I wanted to see if that was common or not. Most of you were pretty close.  Had I known it was this cheap I would have done it a year ago.  I had a quote from another place for $850 so I figured I was getting a good deal, sounds normal though.

As for the tires... they're new right before I got the van so they'll have to stay for a year or two.  Maybe I'm just used to looking at them but I think they look ok in person.  I agree it would look better without the running boards.  The van was only $4000 and only had 100k miles on it when I got it so I jumped on it.

keep the tires...just have a tire store take them off and flip them....that and losing the RB's will turn the look from a passenger van into a cargo van.

Nice job Grant, you have really moved up in the ranks, I rememer when you first started posting on Marks board.  You have proved to me that it can be done.  Wow, man I am jelious.  To think I had it and sold it all, for a few bucks to try and keep the bill collectors away and you know what, there still knocking.

I have made some dumb moves in my life and giving everything away was one of them.  Now I am trying to start all over again.  We live paycheck to paycheck and I just keep on getting screwed by the banks and cc companys.  We are on the edge of doing a chapter 7 bankruptcy just to have some rest from all the collectors.

I am stuck in a dead end job and I just cant break free from it.  Sometimes I wonder what life is all about.  Today we had our house phone shut off, I am sure internet acces wont be to far behind that.

Well sorry for the rant, I just needed to vent.  I keep telling myself things will get better of course I still beleive in Santa.

Wow Joe, I'm sorry to hear about those circumstances. I thought with selling all the stuff and getting the promotion that you were debt free. I hope you get that figured out.

I guess I was lucky in one respect, I used to get paid quite well in a white collar insurance job.  I hated every minute of it but was able to stash away some cash.  I used that cash to mostly live on my first year in this business as well as purchasing the van and most of the equipment I have.

Though I still don't make the $$ I did at the old job, I get to enjoy working for myself, meeting new people every day (most of them are pleasant anyhow!), and generally enjoying myself every day.  I'll take that any day over my life before--happy now vs. depressed before.

Best wishes to you Joe.
