Oriental Rugs After Flood- Quick Response Helpful
« on: February 23, 2008, 10:22:53 AM »

Hey Guys,

I got a call from a biotech firm I've been trying to get into for a while. They had a flood and in addition to commercial carpet the place is loaded w/ oriental rugs. I have no experience w/ orientals.

There is a competitor in town w/ a set up that I could sub it to on Monday. Any thoughts on what to do or just direct it to him (I would like to keep him out of the rest of it). Do I vacuum out as much water as I can, roll it  up and have him clean it early next week. The temp here is below freezing at day and teens at night.

Any concerns I should have here? Quick response or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thx
TimO

Tim - If you aren't set up to handle flood work then pass on this job or refer it to someone who is. You can't wait any time at all to get started on this cleanup. It only takes 24 hours for mold to grow.

You should form an alliance of sorts with cleaners who do other things in your area. I would sub rug cleaning out to your competitor if you don't want them on the site.

Tim,

sub out the rugs, get them to your sub as quickly as possible.  As a matter of fact I would call your sub and tell him it's an emergency and these rugs need to be done ASAP.  If he can't get to them right away then suck out all the water that you can and dry them as quickly as possible.  Make sure the company that owns them signs off on shrinkage and color migration/bleeding before you touch them.

Hope I didn't respond too late.
