My short answer is no.

But i digress

I joined the real estate association here some 2-3 years ago. with it, they gave me "stickers" for mailing to every agent who was also a member. One of them represented several investors who, at the time, had decided to sell umpteen properties. All of these were crack house type rentals. (drama added for impact)

Back then, I prided myself on being able to clean anything. In fact, at the time, my company was "We Clean That". (another story for another time)

I did power washing, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc....
I also had linked up with some painters, dry wallers...you get the point.

It ended up landing in my lap to do, exactly, what you speak about above.

The real estate market had just exploded so my client was the seller(s). I must assume that one could do what you mention but might have to market through the foreclose side rather than directly to the owner/seller. I made a killing. Then I gave it all to some girl I do not like.

I must advise you of this: The houses I entered were as close to trauma scene clean-up as it gets...without the dead body. I often had to bomb the house today...to kill the incredibly larger "palmetto bugs" (cock roaches that fly...can you imagine God making such a nasty bug that not only climbs around at night...but can fly?) so that the next day I could rake up (yes...rake) the dead bodies of these critters.

Sorry...I am experiencing some odd flash-back.......

What was the question?

HA HA, Well with the market the way it is I am trying to evolve our business to not rely on mother nature so much and a new marketing rep I have is spearheading this new initiative with great response.  I was just wondering if anyone can give me some first hand pitfall experience..  I will keep you all posted as I see this starting in the next week.

We get the dead bodies all the time, nasty stuff but makes a killing ha ha.   I am hoping that this blossoms nicely for us as a new channell of revenue.  Thanks for the reply!

I think if you were in the right market it would work fine.

Not something I personally want to do. I, like Phil have a history with apartments and other rentals that I do not wish to revisit. It can be very ugly and nasty work.

Maybe if you got hooked up with a bank or similar it would be worthwhile? I have read about people making a living doing this kind of work. You couldn't do it here but in a large city maybe?
