Good national management companies?
« on: June 12, 2006, 07:53:44 AM »
I'm looking to get some national chain stores or businesses to supplement my monthly commercial income.

I know many national businesses and retailers contract out maintenance for their stores or locations. Who are some good companies or management people to contact about this type of work?

I am willing to cover all of Maine if the price is right.

I may be able top offer some help to you hear, but I would need to know more about what your looking for. It would probably be easier to have this conversation off-line. My contact info is in my profile, feel free to use it.

I have a strong dislike for the MMM (Maintenance Management Mafia)

George - I kind of figured that out after poking around your site!

I have some experience with them too but not much. Every time one would call me about cleaning something the price was way too low. I don't even bother to get in the truck unless I can make some money.

I was thinking about this issue last night while cleaning.... I think small to medium sized businesses that come under the radar of the MMM's might be the way to go. Small bank chains and credit unions come to mind around here.

I do understand why big companies use management firms. They are in business to do whatever they do not maintain a building. Aren't there any management companies out there that are decent?

Past several years I do some small retail for year around income. Have been waiting for them to go with the MMM. Guess I scared them by talking about what they'll end up with cleaning their floors. They switched from once a week to once a month and I raised my price 75% (guess I was too cheap once a week) and they still didn't run me off. Have maintained the floors however for over a year without stripping and keeping them looking decent even at once a month services.

George - That's the kind of work I was talking about. Not floors though!

Was thinking small to medium businesses that are really too small for the management companies. I had originally thought about getting hooked up with a decent management company to do their stores or locations here in Maine. We are so far at the end of the earth that some are having a hard time finding people to service their accounts. Thought that might give me some leverage over pricing.
