My first VCT job
« on: January 07, 2012, 01:15:28 PM »
Cant believe in all my years of doing this I havn't got my feet wet in this stuff.

This was adoctors office where I did the T&G in the bathrooms all carpet and VCT.

I think it turned out pretty good. My process was prevac, spray down neutral cleaner, scrub with green pad using my yellow HOS, mop up with microfiber pad using HOS, wet mop with 18" micropads on a pole, applied two coats of wax with 18" finishing pads.

looks good Jon, glad to hear your not a virgin anymore, however you can still look forward to a strip and finish VCT thats when the fun really starts.

Jon with that client you have to be the "one stop shop" for all his floors. It turned out good.

Good job, Jon.

This is an area that could keep you busy during the slow C/C months!

Thanks guys....

Dustin- I could get into the light stuff like this. I mainly just did it to get this account. It sounds like it may be a job every 6 months and not to mention it is close to where I live. As I get more confidence and experience in VCT I may go for the harder/dirtier stuff.

daing jon, looks real nice! if ya'll didnt mention its yer 1rst vct, we'd never know! a thousand years ago when i did vct, it wasnt so much difficult cause it was real dirty nasty, it was just sometimes a very sloppy process   :tickedoff:

the machines and stripper do the cleaning, and todays finishes, with the newer technology, makes vct much easier to do IMO!

Jon-
Thought about you today I had a small kitchen/bath in a apartment to strip/and finish coat 15 year old VCT, its hard to make money or atleast decent money per hour on VCT so I also only do for my regular carpet customers.

.55 sometimes more depending on location neglect etc. That includes stripping and 3 finish coats, usally 500 SF is minimum size job.

thats not a bad rate Jon
If you want to do more of it i would recommend one of these - highly

This little guy has done over 7 years of monthly -stripping,deep scrub, and t&g pickup. Problem free and about 10 billion times faster then a regular wet vac
I use it in small areas like your pictures. If the squeegee wont fit, i use a pole squeegee to pull it into the path of the vac.
You can find these $300(used)-600

For Jon

Thanks Dusting for the info.  Jon, Dustin's machine is more than a wet vac. It strips, scrubs, vacuums, etc...

On 2nd thought Jon, after looking at Dustin's links, it may be just a wet vac. Sorry if I mis-spoke.
