I've been looking at the Goliath extractor quad vac, anyone know anything about this machine? and can it really go 200' with 2 inch hose?

Not familiar with that machine. However if that length of hose run and diameter of hose is what your looking for I can personally recommend Cross American. I had a XPS and ran 2", 100'+ foot without running a extra booster and maintained low dry times. Had I added the booster I could have went much further. Also they have unsurpassed customer service.

The Cross American is at the top of my list for what I am considering, but looking at other options as well. Thanks

The Cross American looks like a great machine. I have 2 mytees, they work great for me.

if I was getting another machine I would look into the auto fill/dump, seems like it would come in handy.

good luck, let us know what you decide on.

Donald at Steam Brite is a stand up guy and builds good stuff.

I do not see a lot of posts about him on any board but his own but is a good guy and been in this for some time.

Between the two units above, CA would win my money hands down.

phil is correct about donald at steambrite. not only is he a stand up kinda guy, he has been doing things like setting vac motors in a 2x2 fashion for many years now. he definately thinks outside the box!
some folks are only just now realizing the benefit of configuring the motors in such a fashion.

when don cook first came out with that funky lookin machine he calls the enterprise electric TM, everyone laughed at him but they didnt realize just how good that machine was/is! i admit, that machine looked like someones nightmare, lol
i used it when i lived in florida, and found it to be much stronger then the portys i had at the time, and those portys were an eclipse, a truckforce, an old 900 steamway, an old recoil, and my ninja's!
if i recall, he used the electro vac motors in the original, then switched to domels, which are excellent motors. had a great pumpout too.

the goliath is configured the same way but he uses the new max vacs, which are stronger then ameteks, and cost way less then domels. less amp draw also.

i've not used the goliath, but from my experience with that enterprise machine, the goliath is better, and costs a bunch less too!

i'd love to see a side by side of the goliath and the jaguar from ed. never used the new jag but a personal friend is now using one and he raves about its performance!
i dont think you can go wrong with either the goliath or the jag. both sure do seem to offer quite a bit o bang for the buck, thats for sure!

Thanks for the advice everyone, it's a tough decision because there are things I like about each machine. I'm also considering one of Steambrite's small truckmounts that will fit in my astro van.

I have a goliath. When all the vacs are running I'm afraid to stand near it fearing
it will suck me in. It's built well and easy to move.

Hey noweare do you use your Goliath much? Have you compaired it to other portables?
Do you have the heated model? Do you run yours from the van? How much hose do you run with it? Am I asking to many questions?

Just get a real truckmount. No wires to deal with. Heck even a small truckmount like a boxxer 318 will last a long time. I'm running a tm that was built in 1979. It can make pure steam if desired. And generally my carpets are dry before I get the check in my hand. Nothing but happy customers. Just saying IMHO.
I have been finally able to clean 5 houses a day.  2.5 hours between each one.

What truckmount are you using?  I sold my truckmount a few months ago, I put only 100 hours on it in 9 months since most of what I do is op cleaning.
Even when I steamed cleaned a job 98% of the time I pad cleaned first to remove spots and staining better, at that point I don't need a lot of heat, pressure and vacuum.

I'm considering a small truckmount that will fit in my astro van but I like the portability of a portable and that they are less expensive to repair.

No, I dont use it much at all. I dont have a portable but this thing has plenty of suction and easy to work on.
I dont think they make heated goliaths since its vacuum only. When I do use it I use a 50 ft or 75 ft of hose.

It's a hydromaster. The repair costs are negligible.
I have actually spent more for pumps, vac motors. In my porty. So I'm into the porty for about $1300 now. I'm having another vac motor whining so... it pizzing me off.
The vlm wouldn't fly here. For residential anyways.
