My Orbot is faster!
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:44:45 PM »
Thanks to Dustin (CleanTech) informing me about a 3/8" offset driver that HOS has I guess it puts the OP machine closer if not as fast as CCS's standard machines?
Looks like the older Orbots had a 1/4" offset and the new ones have 3/8". Since my Orbot is basically the first one I kinda figured I was on the short end of things. I just happened to have a brand new driver that I bought from HOS a couple of years ago as a backup. Dustin sent the measurements to me and sure enough what I had sitting on my shelf for two years would make my driver move faster.
I installed it last night and ran it on two jobs today. Two things I noticed.

1. My  pads were moving quite faster
2. I now can easily spin those 22" HOS pads (the ones similar to glads).

Those pads before would always fold up under my machine. I ran them with ease today. Nice!

Anyways, just thought I would share my experience.

Glad it worked out for ya !

from what i can tell a 3/8's offset is a 3/8's offset, regardless of maker? correct me if im wrong lol

great you can run superzorbs now, but how are the microfibers ?

can you take a picture of your old counterbalance unit ? I would like to see what it looks like

I actually have no clue about these things. Maybe John G will chime in.

Here is the pic of my old one.

Sweet!  Always nice when you can make the gear you already have run better.  So it looks like the bearing and all that is part of the pad driver?

Good to hear you now have the faster speed, it all helps get more carpet cleaned faster.

However, that still does not make them all equal, as you can see for yourself.

Awesome! Any way to do something similar to an old blue CCS machine?

Yes it is, however the second shot is a Commercial Breeze with 3/8 then the Trinity, the trinity is where the spinning gets extreme.

Sorry Dave, the Ole Blue won't drive 3/8 with a 1/3 hp
