Proteam broke down
« on: June 23, 2011, 10:26:36 PM »
Was vacuuming today.  While finishing up a post vac I flipped the switch to on and sparks started shooting out of the thing.  Not exactly sure where as I was looking at the carpet while my chest got shelled by a bunch of sparks.  Wonder if I fried a motor?  Sound like a wire in the switch?  I took apart the plug and that's fine, not sure where to look next.  Guess I'll have to use my Royal for a while, or maybe I'll go get a new Bissell....

Sorry to hear that. Take the housing off that covers the motor and see if maybe a wire is exposed. Might be an easy fix?

Since you have another 23.5 vacuums laying around in your garage, you should be fine.  ;D

Dangit.  Took the housing off everything looks fine.  Took the switch off, no loose wires there either.... Guess I'm hosed.

I have my 2 royal vacs and one other POS in my garage.  All the others were given away to my helper and various in-laws.

Singed my shirt?  Kind of just saw it out of my peripheral vision, was over in a flash.  A wire must have come loose somewhere but I just can't find it.  I've got backups.

I think it's about 2 years old.  And no I'm not sending it to you guys, I'll be getting it fixed or using the parts from it to fix my other proteam.  I just paid $15 getting a new handle and another $15 getting that cord wrap thingy.
