Orbot Spray mod
« on: June 01, 2011, 09:10:21 PM »
Ok now that I have this great Orbot I was thinking that while the spray system is great the one thing that I see as a problem is that it only sprays right in front of the machine.  Wouldn't it be great if the spray system also had a wand and some hose for 'remote' spraying, eliminate the need for a another sprayer.  So with that in mind I was thinking of looking into doing that.  If anyone has any ideas that they think would be of help or value in this please let me know.

that would be cool. but.... Having a spray wand for remote areas would kinda waste chems..
Not to mention your going to clean the remote area anyways..
I think a seperate spray system like a boosted enzyme for super soiled areas punched with some sort of citrus solvent.. Then yeah that would be stellar.. aside from the encap juice..

Or maybe add more spray heads to the sides.. easy to do with plumbing supply...

Pump-handle water blaster blasts a spinning stream of water up to 20 feet away! Detachable stock adjusts to your reach! Water blaster comes with spinning barrel, detachable stock, tactical rails and a water clip. Get ready for spinning and soaking action! This powerful pump-handle blaster's spinning barrel lets you fire a spinning water stream to drench your targets up to 20 feet away with just one pump! Add the detachable stock so you can adjust your blaster to your reach and give your opponents a soaking they won't forget. Water blaster comes with spinning barrel, detachable stock, tactical rails and a water clip.

Ok so maybe I mis-spoke when I said remote spray.  Think more along the line of prespray. If you want to prespray a traffic lane or need to spray T&G that is bad with some juice for dwell time.  If you are spraying with the Orbot you are also cleaning, unless you are doing a balancing act with the head off the floor a couple of millimeters.
I think I have a basic understanding of what I need to do to make this work.  Another two-way valve down stream of the existing one should provide a way to divert the cleaner to the wand. The next step is to figure out how to remotely activate the pump.  That may require a relay to operate the pump as I believe that the pump is currently activated using 110v.  I wouldn't want to run that out to a wand full of liquid.

I got what your saying.... I have no idea what the sprayers on the orbot look like. I think I seen them more or less pointing straight down in the front area.. can't recall if it was an Orbot or something else..
Perhaps a bypass inline before the mounted sprayers??? running to a spray wand..

Hey Mike, maybe you can make this item for retail?? put it on scrubmeister  :13:

not to burst yer bubble but the system ya speak of is very old school.

TMI outta california had rotary machines like that way back in the '70's!  they had 4 gallon tanks, 60psi pumps, a short magnum type wand, attached to a 25' recoiling pressure hose.
when i did bonnett cleaning back then, i used that machine quite often.

what i loved about that machine was when using it, straight bonnetting or buffing was gravity feed but when ya needed to spray ahead to get extra dwell, the pump worked via a thumb button, and you were then able to walk ahead to pre-spray! naturally, you turned off the rotary to do this.

to date, no one has put out a machine like that and am very suprised it did not maintain its popularity. probably cause it weighed a frikkin ton!

I gave Jeff H. this idea when Orbot first came out, he would rather sell his, whatever. Anyway I explained many have the Multi Sprayer already and it would be easy to hook up. If you have a Orbot with a sprayer holder your multi sprayer may fit, I suggested adding a simple shelf with edges to prevent it falling off. Anyway the Orbot has a extra plug in the Multi sprayer could plug into now just add a simple quick connect to your sprayer mounted on the drive plate or if you want to use the wand disconnect from the drive pad sprayer and connect to your wand. Freakin makes sense to me. I know a on/off switch may need to replace the momentary switch on the machine, no big deal either. Now you have a extra use for your multi sprayer. Hey but what do we know we just use these machines daily, LOL.

I've taken apart the wiring harness on my Orbot up at the handle on the left side. I believe there are some extra wires, not attached to anything, in there. Never, tested them but I suspect they are related to the spare plug on the Orbot. I talked to Jeff about the spare plug a couple years ago. Wanted to know if it would accommodate an LED automobile fog lamp for working in low light areas. At that time they were thinking of adding a black light feature. Now I think they have a solution heater option. I bet this extra plug and wiring would work well with a sprayer mod. BTW, you can request a wiring diagram from HOS. I did. And I was sent a hand drawn diagram on a plain piece of paper. :-\

Thank you for the kind words. After a 11 hour day everything went wrong with shooting the vid.  7 hours of editing helped. Glad you liked it.
