My Mytee RL1200C
« on: July 30, 2010, 10:51:48 AM »
I keep popping breakers left and right. Even though the indicator light says I am on seperate circuits. I was doing my T&G the other day and after changing outlets multiple times I ended up having to turn off one of the two vac motors to get through the job. Also, after inspection one of the wires connected to the  "pump" toggle switch was fried. I had to replace the end due to it being melted.

Any Ideas whats going on? Somethign has be be drawing more amps somewhere I think? Sucks that the only Mytee distributor os an hour away. I will add that one of the male connections on the pump toggle switch broke off a few months ago and I had to move the connection over to another prong that wasn't being used. Wonder if that could be what's cauzing this whole mess?

 :-\ :'( :-\ :'(

Start by replacing any bad wires/ends and the switch as well.

Check all the other wiring while you're in there to make sure it looks good too.

Try that and see how it work.  :)

My thoughts exactly. I have gone through all the wiring and it all looks good. The switch is the only questionable thing.

Went through the electrical again and found where the houseing on a **** connector was exposed. This was on the wire that leads to the pump switch that is in question as well. Taped it up for now and will put a new connector on it shortly. Mytee is sending me a new switch as well. I think I will run the machine tonight in my garage, cleaning the concrete and see what happens. Hope this is the fix!

I've had that happen to me, mostly in older houses.  I'm thinking of ordering the 220v adapter from Mytee.  I shut off a vac when it's been an issue, still works well.  Hope you get yours fixed.  It's a great set-up when it works right.

I think the **** connector could have been your issue. If it was grounding out it would draw more power and trip breakers.

When something is working fine but then starts tripping breakers look for switch/bad wiring or a motor/pump that is getting ready to go.

Same thing here.  older houses, :P
same thought on the 220 box also ;)
I have a couple of clients houses that I'll bring my generator, just so I don't have to play with breakers.
A 220 box off from a clients drier circut might be a fix for some of these problems, but there is what 2 different types of plugs for them? A local electrician buddy could make something up. I'm seriously think of having it made, as it would make life nice at times of tripping! ;D

The "old house" phenomenon is more a New England thing I think?

Chem lives in the "new" part of the US.  ;D

I was tripping the breakers in my house....it is only 2 years old. So, I know it is my machine.

Check on any loose connections, if they're loose they will arc causing more draw and getting hot.  I do think you are on the right track about that switch.
I have a wire in my machine that keeps cooking the wire connectors, and it is a fairly large type connector. I've replaced it 3 times now,  I'm going to try putting a heavier gauge wire in its place next time I have to replace connectors.
A couple of times on the fishing vessels I've seen the insulation cook off from a wire just because it was not a heavy enough wire for the draw it was using.

Chem,
I recommend calling mytee and ask for Nathan Pepper, he knows the machines well and should be able to help you. DON"T talk to anyone else there, they don't know what they are doing . IMO

Well....looks like it was the pump switch. Mytee was good enough to not only send me one but two new switches for free. No questions asked.

I like when distributors do the right thing.
