Fix-it guy proteam handle question
« on: May 26, 2011, 06:37:44 PM »
The handle on my proteam vac snapped. Not quite in half, but close were I to attempt to use it any more.

My question is, I was thinking of using jb weld to epoxy it back together. Was wondering for you fix it guys if you think that would work?  Maybe super glue? Or should I just order a new one?

Epoxy should work.

If it is the area of the handle at the bottom where the black grip meets the plastic. Epoxy should do it. Mine is broke there as well.

hey grant, hardware sales has a whole isle for glue, it's in the paint section. they are local and know what they are talking about, i would take the handle down there and talk to them. I'm sure he could get you the right product.

Gavin, those guys are great! Love Hardware sales.  I might try that I just thought I'd see if the guys here thought what I had on hand might work.

Jon, it's the lower handle, the carrying handle, I use it to hold the vac and pull it across the stairs.  The hard plastic handle with the one big screw in the middle.  Sorry I wasn't clear.

Buy a new handle. Don't micky mouse your work tools. It looks bad and might be less reliable.

How do you guys do this stuff? I still have an old 1400XP that works great. Nothing broken. Still has original cord too. It was on one of our trucks for a few years before I stole it for the house.

We clean carpets for a living Mike. We dont have the luxery to go fishing because we sold our business years ago.  :celebrate:

Also, I think residential is harder on equipment than commercial. Residential carpet cleaning is like city miles on an engine, where as commercial is easy hwy miles.
