What method have you used to deodorize skunk odor in a house?

I ran across a link to a specialty treatment not deodorizer. The treatment worked to eliminate the odor and not to cover it up. I was interested in the pet stain treatment for carpets and noticed they had a skunk treatment.

I have seen a formula somewhere for something that had detergent and hydrogen peroxide in it. It was inexpensive and something someone could make up in case of emergency.

There are some specialty formulas as you pointed out George. There is a company right here in Maine that makes one. I don't think most of us would think to stock it.....

A friend of my wife had a skunk spray inside the house into the bedroom while the sliding door was open. Something spooked the skunk and it sprayed. Glad it wasn't my house! This happened in the middle of the night by the way. She found a formula on the internet like the one I saw and used it with success. From what I heard the odor is gone. Haven't sniffed it myself though.....
