Odoban vs Odorcide 210
« on: February 28, 2011, 10:24:35 PM »
has anyone used odoban?

what do you think?

It seems to do a good job, and the price and avalibilty of just heading to home depot to pick it up seem great.

odorcide 210 works too but I have to special order it and have it shipped to my house..

Although both take care of the odor, odoban takes care of mold, mildew, and viruses. but on the downside it not all natural.

I smell so many things that I don't know what smell I prefer.....

Hey Gavin, hope you're doing well.

I think you remember I like odorcide also.  However I don't know much about the odoban.  I just looked at the website and it does look like pretty good stuff.  Somebody should try this stuff out of pet urine and report back.

Clever new website there, should help your google ranking?

odocide works pretty well on pet urine. just not very good for the all natural bellingham crowd.

I'm not sure how the new website will do with google. I just switched to multiple domain hosting so I don't have a charge for each site I host, I have a thrift store, and the carpet cleaning and a few other ones for friends and family. While I was making the switch with hosting I decided to re-do the old web page to reflect my new business name.

google is a beast all in itself.  I got dropped from Google places because I changed my name, and it's under review, so hopefully it'll come back at some point.

Grant: did you see the new dex book that came out? I dropped out of it and it looks like several of our competitors did as well, you still have your nice little listing, but it's a pretty wimpy carpet cleaning section compared to last year.

I experimented with Odoban before I tried Odocide.
Odocide-8oz/gal
Odoban-32oz/gal.,   A lot more oily reside in the carpet,  and Odocide works!
I am not fond of the Odocide smell, but I find Odoban smells worse.

I have found that pet owners are pleased with the results when I use Odorcide or Hydrocide.
For me, Results trump Cost everytime.

I'll have to try Hydrocide.

mixing odoban to full strength would leave a lot of residue.

so far I have been using odorcide for my pet problems, a different fragrance for normal cleaning, and just a splash of odoban (not mixed to full strength) if I am cleaning a place that has pets, and has a mild problem, but customers are not paying for anything extra.

Based on this I would not use it. Causes irreversible eye damage. See msds link below. It states this warning on the label as well. I tell any customer that has it in their home to check the label and decide if it is worth the risk.

We didn't get a new dex book yet, either they skipped my neighborhood or they are behind.

I didn't realize you had actually changed your company name, that's a big change.

When I was HWE I used Odorban alot it worked fine but I also used odorcide for urine. I haven't used Odorban with OP cleaning because I don't know if the chemistry works with encap chemicals. Odorcide was approved by Excellent Supply to be used with encap chems atleast theirs.

You have another choice at:http://bonnetpro.com/encapsulation/surround_profresh.html

You will find this product to have a friendlier MSDS. And it smells like Surround Ultra. If you want to try a gallon I will offer a 100% money back guarantee.

ProFresh contains, in part, concentrated zinc salts, that readily micro-emulsify in water to produce a concentrated odor counteractent and true odor absorber, not an odor mask. ProFresh chemically alters volatile odors rendering them undetectable, i.e., non-volatile so that they do not reach the olfactory nerve and therefore cannot be smelled. ProFresh effectively neutralizes smelly short chain carboxylic acids, mercaptans, thioethers and amines (including hydrogen sulfide and ammonia).
