New security software and mods for the Forum

I am amazed at what we are filtering out with the new security mods and changes made to this site.

The logs are filled with bots and various other bad stuff. We had a few things in place to keep bots from getting on and posting stuff. Didn't realize it was this much though. I can track all of that with the new mods.

Have been analyzing the Forum Firewall logs. Its in analysis mode right now. It logs when actions would have been taken. Still looking at settings before I start blocking stuff.

Just makes you realize how much bad stuff is out there today. You really need to take steps to protect your own computer. Make sure you have Firewall, Antivirus, anti malware and run it regularly.

Firewall logs show all kinds of stuff blocked last night.

Something was even trying to get into Media Comments?  Maybe just another way to leave bad messages.

Now I have a feeling we will need to tweak settings. Will have to balance strict security with user experience.

I appreciate everyone's patience during this whole upgrade process.

The steps we have taken appear to have stopped the bot attacks on our site completely. Hope other site owners are able to get the same results.
