Mr. Squiigii SEO: Get Your Name Out
« on: February 13, 2011, 01:00:08 AM »
Ben Hanks 706-442-8209 Columbus Ga (Servicemagic's Competition)

I am a journeyman electrician who was laid off in 09 because of the recession. After being on unemployment a year, I started researching businesses. I found something that would probably work, cleaning. As an electrician I have to be able to do many construction trades. Now as a Business owner, I am having to use computers which I am computer literate...somewhat but I am getting better at it as the more research I do.
So now that lets get to SEO. Search Engine Optimization. Google recognizes the first 166 characters when creating a blog. This forum is a blog. Yes I have joined more than 20 forums! I have also joined websites with free listings. Any site that will allow me to list my business for free with out joining is a definite. But there are some who want you to join and use coded TAGS within your website. I have that as well and can work it. But back to SEO, SEO are keywords in which you describe your blog, post, & website. Words such as Columbus Ga, window, cleaning, and so on. Words that ordinary people think of when using Google, Bing, Dogpile, Altavista and others search engines. With these pwerful keywords people can find you in such sections as the local list on Google Maps with the red dots.

I have more stuff but that is just a taste. Comments and questions please?

Go to Google and get Google Analytics and Webmaster tools.

Analytics will tell you where your traffic is coming from and Tools will give you other information.

You would get better results from your efforts if your site was tweaked and analyzed instead of posting on a bunch of forums.

I also just checked for domain registration...........I suggest you build a real website with one of the domains I contacted you about.

Hey Mike. Liked the info about the domain names but with my facebook profile Squiigii Yewinder and fan page Mr. Squiigii, I have full rights over my "intellectual property" because that is what they call it. So who ever wants to buy those domains, can. This will stand up in court. I have 1500 people who I advertise to freely for free which has brought me plenty of customers. Competition is fierce anywhere you go though. I have over 100 subscibers to my email newsletter every month, wich is also free.

Thanks for the advice.

It would be a lot easier for you to buy the domains. Taking someone to court isn't cheap.

If you are relying on facebook to make your business ...................good luck.

How odd. New guy comes to the forum empty handed yet, is not willing to learn nor exchange with us, the very people whose shoulders he is standing on.

As you climb your new ladder....careful where you place your foot.

Since he doesn't seem to care...........

I checked domain registrations and squiigii.com, mrsquiigii.com, and squiigiiyewinder.com were all available. He was talking about driving traffic to his site but honestly I didn't find the site much? It also doesn't push the traffic to a site name he owns. Anyway, to me someone who is serious about a website will own the domain names.

Best of luck to him in his new business. I think he has a lot to learn about actual cleaning. How did an out of work electrician become a cleaning expert?

If his personality is reflected what-so-ever within his short stay here...I infer he may have troubles within his new chosen field not-so-different than his old field.

No offense is meant but when someone is new and unwilling to participate...but for the taking...then my experience tells me the issue may be one of entitlement. If ya knowhwatimean.

I'd hate sending traffic to another domain name. But, I try to listen to the experience of others.

Just sayin.

If he comes back, maybe he will find the time to get onboard with what we already have going on and find some use...or find the exit door is wide open. Either way...fine by me.

I checked out the first two links and wasn't really impressed? Not sure how any of that would get a potential customer to use him?

I don't do facebook so the links didn't do anything for me.

Will be interesting to see how long he stays in business. In this case I can't tell if he is doing anything locally for advertising or if this is his whole effort?

Good learning experience for new business owners watching this as well. Can someone start a cleaning business using just online efforts? I think it will be possible someday but not sure if that day is here yet?

What exactly is your lead generator?

How do you know where the leads are coming from?

A good month does not a successful business make......been there and done that.

Takes consistent effort over time to make it work out well. So if your committed, you better be committed for the long haul. Don't forget....if you don't have a squeegee on a window or equipment on the floor.....then you ain't makin' money. One good day can balance your week if you don't have anything behind it.

You got to leave the cave EVERY day and kill something in order for the the tribe to eat.

Best damn quote E-V-E-R on this forum.

If you do not know how to sell your service:

1) Learn how
2) Change and find a service you CAN sell
3) get a job.

I got so tired of trying to 'market' and learned how to 'sell'... I also had to change services to do so.

Making the changes I made allowed me to move left, one seat, into the drivers seat and go after the business I need/want rather than do things to 'maybe cause my phone to ring.

I love the 'hunter/gatherer' side of my other business.

Good quote man.

You don't have to leave the CAVE! Why go out and search when you can have $5000 job call like I got today? Just for seeing my free ad advertised.

No seriously. We do not have "crocks" in Arizona.

Mike......I am about to hit the "ban" button. This guy has not contributed to anything worthwhile. But then there are those who would like to see this place become one of the "other" boards.

Seriously, I admire the enthusiasm he has at the moment. Remember when you started out?

Squiigii - What was the $5000 job for?
