More SEO work
« on: February 12, 2010, 07:13:58 AM »
I installed a mod called VBulletin Style Meta Tags yesterday and tweaked it with the help of this tool: http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html

You put in a web address and it tells you about it and provides some suggestions if needed. I fooled with this a few hours yesterday and it seemed to make a big difference. Will track the results with Google Analytics to see if it helps.

This can be done for any web site to see how things look.

Looks like its already working!  ;D More organic searches are showing in the reports.

I'm sure it will take a while for Google and the others to notice all the changes and index everything but we're making progress.

I found the analyzer tool very helpful while going through the whole process.

Just repeated it for the Wordpress site I'm working on. I started out with NO title or Meta tags, keywords or description showing. Installed some mods, did some tweaks and we now have title, keywords and description.  :)

Kerry - I was too busy myself to do much a few years ago. Now that I have more time, I'm going back and revisiting some of these issues.

Newer software and some available tools make it easier for me to do all this now too.  :)

I've taught myself what little I know and accidentally discovered many things in the last few months.

WordPress is great for at least an online newsletter version of your website and can be tweeked so it no longer functions as a blog.  They have great tools for working with google analyzer and some seo tools that make your site jump up in the ranks.  Check out the newsletter link at my site and see wordpress in action.  And of course everything wordpress related seems free including the templates.
