Mobile Swipe n Smile
« on: April 21, 2011, 12:45:51 AM »
Looking to do Credit Cardz via swipe of a Iphone or Andriod Adaptor. I tried the squareup.com and for some reason can't get them to except me, maybe they think I'm a hack? Anyone else using a similar device, if so who what when where and why? The only other meat I can come up with is to buy a mobile swipe and then just sign up through PayPal to do the actual transfers. Before I have always just used the old school expensive swipe machines where you have to batch out and have always had problems with. Thought this was a grand idea.

After not finding a other comparable company i tried signing up again and presto! They are shipping the square for free and already have the app downloaded and set up with my account. No limit, no monthly dues, just a small percentage swipe. It also allows the customer to sign and to send a receipt via text or email! This is pretty groundbreaking if u ask me, not mention the lowest rates out there, even lower than PayPal!

Square up is cool.  Custys get a kick out of signing with their finger.

Cash is cooler ;D

Square lets you take a picture and send that with the conformation email .. not sure how that would come into play with carpet cleaning.. but for something like engraved party gifts, genius! Shake the phone like an etch a sketch if they mess up to re sign. like said above custys will love signing in a new way, its one of those things they will tell there friends about. All while saving us money... The best product on the market is also the least expensive, sounds good to me!
Not a big fan of Intuit in the past.. bout the same pricing structure, just way easier with square. Infact the square ships in 2-5 days, while the Intuit will ship within 30!!

I am happy with this gadget thus far.  I like the no monthly fee part and thus far has worked basically without a hitch.  One of the cards I had to swipe 5 times before it read it, but it did read it.  I have taken a couple over the phone and it charges 3.5% for that which is a little steep, but that's fine for the occasional time when that's the best/only way to get paid.

Burton, you mention that there's a way to attach a picture to send with the confirmation email?  I'm not seeing that as an option, maybe I'm missing something?

My Squareup and new phone should be here today or tomorrow. I also ordered this small stylus for signing.
I am glad to hear people are liking Squarup.

I've been having people use their fingernail.  Seems to work just fine except for the REALLY REALLY non tech people.  I had an old lady yesterday who wanted to pay by cc and she wasn't happy I had to send her the cc receipt via email instead of having a printer and she was hopelessly confused trying to sign my screen with her fingernail.  Everybody else has thought it was really cool.

I don't know, I gave her that too. She's an apt building manager, seems to have  a set way she wants to keep the receipts. Says she needs both, not sure if its her issue or if the owner asks her for both.
