Cloud Storage Mobile Phone
« on: June 22, 2011, 11:58:42 PM »
Hey Friends!
Does anyone have any advise on cloud storage for a mobile device?
I have an iphone and a Windows 7 mobile phone.
I have found ALOT of different options, and not sure what your thoughts are. I have had good experiences with iTunes before but Iam in love with my Windows phone so I was thinking Amazon, which I have also had good experiences with. And then there's of course lots of up and coming "3rd party" if you will.. companies.
The reason I care is that once you spend money on storage, it's probably the same company I am going to want to use for the next couple of years.. if not forever. I need purchase options because all I have found out there in the free relm is 5GB, and I need alot .. more than that.

All opinions, or suggestions are welcome.
Thank You :86:

I have been using Dropbox.com for a few months now with Android
Absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
They have some form of windows mobile active there.

I am just using the free (2.2gigs) which is allot smaller then your looking for but they do have
50gb - 9.99/mth 99/year
100gb - 19.00/mth  199. year

If memory serves me correctly I think Dropbox is one of the first companies?

Sometime else you could look at is Googles new Chrome books, that are entirely Cloud based!
I watched the google IO on it a month ago, looks very promising
Once these are out and running ill be taking a very serious look at the whole set up

Honestly i think anyone with a smartphone should at least have the free dropbox (or like program)

I use it so many times for quickly sending files/pictures etc from phone-pc or pc-phone. Its much faster then hooking up the cable and transferring the normal way

YEA! I was looking at dropbox too.. I will check it out again!
 :29: :682:

Google OS is going to be awesome.. not for me.. but awesome for schools, parents, grandparents, some of the people on this board, etc. I like having the reigns of the horse and there is no way Im gonna get rid of my control panel, my computer,  .. etc. Another thing I dont know if I would ever be able to get over is trusting google/government (US) with ALL of my content held on my computer. All of a suddon pics, movies, docs, etc will start showing up when doing google searches. . .. ok  maybe not. But still its possible, especially knowing a good hacker or two in my days, I know how it is possible to just blow open people's files and expose them. .. cough WikiLinks Cough!
Another thing I can't get over is how in Egypt a couple months ago, thier government shut off the internet - because people were protesting  :ecomcity: about there now past leader. That scares me! Can you imagine not being able to even turn on your computer to look up bank files, addresses, phone numbers? Now thats crazy stuff..
Really great thought and idea, and good find, I knew they were up to something but had no idea they were going that far deep into the depth. :97:
The only files I want on and off my device via cloud will be music and pics .. maybe files but probably not.
Thanks for the great info as always!

what's the point of these huge hard drives that come with computers now if we store everything on some server somewhere else. any computer running google OS better have a small hard drive.
