Clean inside computer case?
« on: March 28, 2011, 11:05:20 AM »
Ever clean the inside of your computer case? This may not be for those who aren't used to looking inside a computer.

Was thinking about adding a second monitor to my setup. I have an older computer so I would have to upgrade the video card. I've done all the hardware work on my computers in recent years so I've been inside my unit before. Anyway, I took it apart and it was filled with dust.  :-\

Shut everything down and got out a small horsehair paintbrush I keep for dusting. Use a high filtration vac so you don't spew stuff everywhere. I hit the big stuff with the end of the vac hose then put that near the bottom of the case and started to brush the dust out. It takes a few minutes to do this but not too bad. I think I've done mine about once per year or so.

The fan runs less and it helps the computer cooler.

There are companies who actually sell this service to folks.

Wonder how much they charge?

Didn't take me that long. Probably the worst part for most people is getting the machine out where you can get at it.

Back when I first discovered my neck issues, I was looking at a lot of business ideas... some online.

I found a couple who taught the computer cleaning service... and the fee, then, ranged from $15-$35 per is memory serves.

The cool thing as, according to what I read, how many need/enjoy the service. But I also read good things about the Vento from those who sold it.

someone use to have, as a signature: Never trust anyone with something to sell and it rings true today...but I digress.

The tools were: A good, small, high filtered vacuum...one like Jim used to and maybe still sells. Little cylinder thing. Cool. And the right brushes, screw drivers etc...and the book teaching how to do and how to sell.

I researched the idea for weeks...maybe even wrote something about it here.?

Onoe of the companies I researched also spoke of how, if several people use the same computer, how colds, viruses etc can be spread that way...so they came monthly, I think, to disenfect.

I'm cautiously skeptical. When someone deals with something regularly they will know more than you. I can accept that.

The whole germ thing is some of what I was thinking? People have a phobia about that. Keyboards, touch screens, etc.

I actually spoke with the Canadian company I posted...

The lady was very nice and she said, the germ thing was the number one way to sell it.

Neck thing??? Joel did you smart mouth your wife?? and she kicked your **** again huh?

I never trust anyone who contacts me for a profit in it for themselves.
Ebay gives a whole new meaning to buyer beware..
Ebay item #1234566 sells for $45 dollars
the seller bought it at walmart for $25

Look up "God Fobid" rug doctor on ebay and you see the same thing from walmart, target, lowes etc..
