Here are a list of some easy ways to do your own or have a cheap but nice website.

My favorite: newbielink:http://wordpress.com/ [nonactive] keep in mind wordpress is not just a blog, it is a content management system.
cheap wordpress themes: newbielink:http://themeforest.net/category/wordpress [nonactive]
google search link for wordpress themes: newbielink:http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=wordpress+themes&aq=f&aqi=g10&oq=&fp=173c88006b48283c [nonactive]

Squarespace.com: newbielink:http://www.squarespace.com/ [nonactive] very reliable, and service oriented.

Good timing on the post...........

I need to build a couple of sites for myself. Hadn't really thought about Word Press because I thought it was all blog. Might be able to use that for one of the sites. What's the learning curve with that?

Don't need the Squarespace as I have a reseller account. I looked at Kompozer which is open source (free). Also looked at this one: http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/
They have a decent looking support forum and members have done some mods which are available to board members. Thoughts?

I don't have any coding knowledge so a WSIWG software package would be great for me.

Mike,
I use wordpress for my site. (link in signature.) As you can see it has a blog page, but that is only a small part of my site. The default theme is blog only but you can buy a theme that has much more plus support and wyswyg type features. There are TONS of tutorials out there. I would not really recommend one of the free themes for a full blown website unless you can code html and css to make it what you want. My site has quite a bit of custom design over what it was originally. (this is what mine looked like when I bought it    newbielink:http://themeforest.net/item/blueglow-worpress-theme/full_screen_preview/53564 [nonactive]  )

themeforest is my favorite source for premium themes, and like I said support is pretty good on premium themes. It makes the $20-$50 or so worth it.

there is also premium sites. just search for "premium wordpress themes" newbielink:http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=premium+wordpress+themes&aq=f&aqi=g10&oq=&fp=173c88006b48283c [nonactive]

I have godaddy as my hosting. they have an easy way to put wordpress on your site. from there, you can just work inside wordpress' content management system.
drop me a line if you have any questions or need a hand. Im not a coder, but I know enough to muddle through using google as backup.

Thanks for the tip.

That theme would work fine for what I want to do with one of the sites.  :)

I can launch Wordpress right from fantastico in a Cpanel so setup would be quick and easy.

Just a word of caution, that theme I used requires a bit more coding knowledge than some of the others. Changing things requires working with the code rather than a simple interface like some of the other premium themes.

I also use wordpress for my site, and I also have my own reseller hosting. I recommend using Wordpress for its flexibility, as well as its very large user base... Larger user base = more mods and more support from others!

Just loaded it yesterday and started a quick site. I agree.............many mods and plug ins for Wordpress.  :)

I also have a Reseller account and found it in the Fantastico list. Click a few buttons and ...........Loaded!

Will work on that as time permits. Looks very promising from what I can see? The back end looks pretty intuitive.

I just could not get into WordaPress. I have my wife using Adobe Master Suite CS5 right now. The landing page is about done and should be hosted tomorrow. She is still learning the programs but it is amazing at what can be done. Not a cheap program and I really can't compare it to Wordpress. Two different apples.

Another one that is easy to use is Yahoo Sitebuilder. That's how I did my last one.

Another package to consider is Coffee cups visual site designer. I dont use a lot of their modules
but you can do flash, add html code (if you want to), special effects, contact forms, videos, music, etc...
