Hi Andy, not sure I can add a whole lot here but since I'm probably the only one on this board who's used it thought I'd give you my thoughts.
I like the surround quite a bit. The "
encap 101" page has some interesting information that I'm sure other manufacturers wouldn't agree with. Surround isn't designed to shatter as it dries, but rather vac out slowly over time. Since I use pads I don't worry about it too much, but this might be an interesting discussion for another thread?? I guess this could be called the "film former" debate.
The surround works quite well with padcapping in my limited experience. I don't have encap punch to do a side-by-side with so I can't speak to that. I've never tried enc either. My other product I use for pet carpets is Whamm with 2 ounces of shatter added per gallon. That combo seems to work quite well too, but is very expensive! I still have half a gallon of hot knife so might try a head to head with that one of these days. HOS has a new green encap that is less expensive than surround. I did a head to head on one job vs. surround and the performance was comparable.
