MiniMax
« on: November 23, 2011, 08:18:36 AM »
Not sure how long it has been available but I just stumbled across the Bonnet Pro MiniMax. Looks like a really nice machine! Back in the 70's and 80's I cleaned with a swing machine and argo. Since getting back into carpet cleaning a few years ago I have been using an op machine and encap chemicals. I know a lot of the people on here use a 175 for padcapping, your thoughts? I am in the market for a new machine in the spring and am looking at the Orbot, Trinity and now the MiniMax. Orbot is the price winner but? :017:

There have been some recent posts about that machine. It is new to the market.

The owner is a member here.  ;D

A rotary machine with the new technology chemicals available should do a decent job? The MiniMax is faster than 175 isn't it? Think its 200 or something like that. Should be faster than your average 175. Haven't seen any user reviews of this machine yet but it looks promising.

Would be hesitant to buy an Orbot after reading user reviews. Price isn't everything.

I agree Mike price isn't everything. Productivity, and durability are also important considerations. I recently had a problem with my Vento that early Orbots have had with the screw breaking off in the motor shaft. I just purchased a new motor with the new shaft minus the keyway. Putting it together this weekend. It is my understanding HOS is covering some of the cost for Orbot owners. I also know the first Trinity has also had problems which CCSOP is also helping those owners. What I haven't heard are owners of swing machines experiencing problems and that is what interest me about the MiniMax. But is the productivity the same as an OP machine? I had to rent a Power Flight machine for a job when the screw broke off on my Vento. On the residential job I used it on I was happy with the results and the time it took to complete the job.  Guess I am on the fence. I plan on a test drive of the Orbot at Excellent Supply when I am in FL for the Christmas holiday.  Happy Turkey Day!

I ran 175's for 15 years. I have now run OP machines for the last 4 years. I like 175's almost just as much as an OP machine.

The reason I don't favor a 175 over a OP is mainly because an OP machine (with the wheels on the ground) in much lighter and easier to use. I think you can achieve the same results (some will argue) with both machines. But, you can get to them quicker with an OP machine. A Vento/HOS is no comparison to a Orbot.

With the problems guys are having with customer service with Hruby. I would not spend my money with them. Johns Trinity is looking promising but one will need to take out a second mortgage to pay for it.

I have very minimal experience with an OP machine, but I will say that a higher speed Rotary will do a fantastic job and fast!

I just picked up a brand new 235 RPM 1.5 hp rotary on ebay for $679 shipped. The thing that sold me on this machine is that it only weighs in at 70 lbs! I haven't used it yet, but I can tell I'm going to like it, especially for residential. My other machine is 125 lbs, so this one should make my life a lot better.

I think it's a good looking machine too:

I was really close to pulling the triger on one of these last year. I thought I needed a 300 rpm machine. My 300 is a nice machine but it  weighs over a 100lbs. Would the difference in in rpms really make that much of a difference?

I think it does make a difference between a 175 and 300. But I've been using a 175 and it works just fine. The added 60 rpms never hurts though.

I wanted a 300 as well, but they're all around 100-110 lbs. I love my back and want to keep it. So hopefully this will serve me well. I'm keeping the heavy unit for commercial work.

I think pretty much any floor machine or OP is going to be around 100 lbs or slightly more?

When we were cleaning I used to just pick them up and carry them (not sure I would want to do that now?). If that is difficult or you have a bad back then look into using a ramp or helper.

Cimex is made overseas.

This is made in USA by Bonnet Pro.

Two different companies.

OK - I was going to say no to that too but  I would have been wrong.

That company bought Cimex in 2003.

Tacony owns a lot of stuff now including the above companies. http://www.tacony.com/Strategic-Business-Units/commercial-floor-care/

The weight issue was one of the reasons I was interested in the MiniMax, It weighs in a 89 lbs. But I do like 70 lbs. even better. I look forward to your review of the Orbis. I can buy a really nice electric sprayer for the $2000 savings.

Hi Guys. Sorry I missed this as  I was watching conversation on the equipment repair section about the Mini. At bonnetpro.com I have a 15 minute video that gives a good description of the Mini Max and covers most of its features. Its great to hear positive feedback on this machine. It was just released a few weeks ago. I have field tested 2 different units like the one in the "How to Encap" video for 7 months. I am using the same motor in an AC form that I have used on the Carpet Max for 7 years. The current motor is a 200r.p.m. custom unit made by Imperial. The first motor was a 250rpm but did not have enough torque. When the rpm was dropped to 200 the torque rose by a little over 60%. Let me know if I can help. Thanks.

I just watched the video for the Mini Max. Got to say, I love the attention to detail. Very smart with not going with an adjustable handle up top. theteeth do wear down and it becomes a pain. Smart to use all stainless and aluminum parts. I LOVE the trigger for the spray. Nice touch giving the option to run it always on or a nice trigger touch.

I am impressed.

Mo- Go to Hagco and check out the same micros. I think it was $120 for 6 pads.

Hey guys. Just got me a new Mini Max a couple of weeks ago. I really like it. Built to last. Very quiet. Lots of power. The pad driver allows you to use any kind of pad that you choose without causing any damage to the pads. You can use fiber pads, Tuways, Glads, Super Zorbs, microfiber, and cotton.

The dual spray system is an outstanding new development in low moisture cleaning. You can literally put it on cruise control with the solution and just boogy on commercial carpet.

I have been using the Mini Max on residential and commercial and have zero complaints after around 15 jobs.

I have used OP for years and still love OP, but I have seen no difference thus far in the end result concerning the quality of job that either machine does.

I highly recommend the Mini Max for anyone that has no problem with running a rotary. When I got the Mini Max, my rotary experience was about 5 hours total and I adjusted to the Mini Max very quick.

A top notch piece of equipment.  :santa_afro:

I have run all of the pads that I named above except cotton, and the manufacturer said that it will run them as well.
