Grease Eater update
« on: January 31, 2011, 03:19:08 PM »
Used it for the 1st time today.  Job was 2 bedroom rental, HEAVY soiled poly frezzie (sp?) . The tenant was there for 5 years and the carpet had never been cleaned ,   black traffic areas , several spots (drink spills , grease, black spots etc.)

Mixed GE at minimum dilution of 2 oz per gallon. Sprayed heavy , let dwell while I set up.  Cleaned up beautifully! Was slow going at first, It took 3-4 slow wet passes to get it clean, I felt like I was working harder than I should, so I fired up the sebo and gave it a good quick scrub. After that 1 or 2 slow wet pass and it was clean as can be.  I didn't have to use any spotters , every stain came right out.  It was real cool seeing the contrast of the white streak next to the black uncleaned area after doing a pass.   The owner was thrilled with the result, and complimented me on the pleasant smell.

This would have been a major pad burner with the OP, and I feel like I saved at least 15-20 minutes by using TM/GE instead.   Took me a little over 1 hour from start to finish.  OP still seems to be faster or as fast on the less dirty ones due to easer set up times.

What if anything were you using for chems in your machine?

That could be why you had to work so hard.

Running a chem in the machine helps.

Hydramaster uses a pretty simple meter system. What's not working? You need to measure or adjust when the mix tank is filling.

I'm missing needed parts in the water box. It's gonna be about $120 to get the pieces I need. I'll have to wait on that for a bit.

Got it. When you get that fixed you should notice a difference in effort to clean something like that.

Andy, my input here may be useless but:

On my boxxer, I NEVE had to run a chem through the macheen. :) I am unclear why but I presprayed with the righ juice and sometimes, I scrubbed with a brush... 2 strokes..sometimes three...

wet push dry pull...or wet both ways then dry both ways...

My chemical injector was used for acid only.

I also do not use a rinse agent. 2 oz to the gallon is not a whole lot. So I would mix it at it's stronger dilution. I mean jeez you have 30 pounds of the stuff.  I do things a little differently. I 95% of the time I get really good results without any extra scrubbing.  When I clean I dont ever lett off the trigger on my 1st pass. I am on the trigger forward and back I use a 12" wand and make about 3" triangles with a fairly fast forward and back motion. So I basically am going over every part of the carpaet 4 times with the wand triggered. At the end of the row I then go back over it all with a drypass of about 5 inch squares so everything I just did basically, get's 2-3 drystrokes also.  With this method I seem to get really good results and I still get really good dry times as long as my truck is running right. (and even when it is annoying me like it has been lately)

I wanted to test this stuff out and see what it would do at 2 oz a gallon on trashed carpet. It worked.  Next time I get one that bad I'll bump it up to 3 or 4 oz to make it go quicker.

It sound like you found a winner as long as it doesn't leave a residue. I think a acid rinse works better then just plain water.
