Vacaway Vs Excellent Supp
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:00:00 PM »
I noticed a lot of the guys in this forum use vacaway products. Is it because a lot of you guys do mostly residential jobs? OP more than a straight encap? I just received the sample pack from vacaway and only used DA and HK. It did a great job on medium soil berber I did today. Using 175 and tuway pads.

I also have releaseit DS, that only used once at an indian restaurant (with fiber plus). It worked ok, but it had a hard time by the kitchen where it was more greasy. Someone recommended that I mix it with releaseit punch on areas with more grease and post bonnet with cottons or microfiber.

I do about 90% commercial and fortunate to land a bunch of accounts in the next two weeks (6 levels of office space, hotel rooms, chain of restaurants) and have to purchase a bunch of chemicals for the jobs. Unfortunately I only have a 175 machine and a portable (not usually this busy) and I value the opinions on this forum  :13:

I used Releasit when it first came out. Cleaned OK but I didn't like the odor and spraying it made people cough.

No such issues with Vacaway and they have a nice line of spotters too. Steve has also expanded the line so you have a nice variety of cleaners.

I rely, daily, on vacaway products.

But many prefer Ricky's juice.

I use them both. Pretty much half a dozen of one six of the other.  Releasit DS is a bomb a** product works extremely well.  I like it a bit better then Hot knife which also works extremely well.
The plus on the side of Vacaway is that there are a variety of other products that Vacaway sells that can be added to each other to spike the mix for certain circumstances.  I am very fond of that ability.

If you're going to be using it out of a sprayer I'd stay away from releasit DS and Punch.  They make many people sneeze which your custys will associate with "toxic chemicals".  I've never had access to a gravity fed unit but I hear Releasit DS is great that way, pretty sure that's how Joel usually uses it?

I have tried VacAways products, mostly do not like the scents in the products, some to strong and one which reminded me of changing a diaper (baby powder scent). I have read other reviews of their products as well which mentions bubble gum as a scent I believe in their Peroxy. I tried the Encap Green and a couple of times I noticed a sour milk smell not sure if it was the chemical or the carpet I was working on. As far as cleaning their products do work very well, no argument there.  I use mainly Releasit Hydrox and occasionally Releasit DS. They both use the Tea Tree Oil as a fragrance. I do mostly residential and hear nothing but compliments from my custys about the fresh light clean scent the hydrox product has. I agree the Clean DS can be a bit strong (likely the alcohol in the product)  but only use when in and unoccupied home or the occasional commercial. I think for myself at-least if VacAway could find the same scent used across their line of chemicals I would likely use them more. I don't like using multiple products with different scents that might not mix well. I recently ordered a sample Clausen Stay Clean to try out, have not cleaned with it yet, but there is not much of any fragrance as far as I can tell.

If I had a cimex or a shower feed 175, I would have no problem using release it for pure scrub n run on commercial, release it is specially good for that application.

For pad cleaning, vacaway rules / owns all others.

Rick just came out with a green encap product called Bio Encap. It's the same dilution ratio as encap green but a little more expensive per case.

That's always been my problem with Ricks stuff as well. Makes me cough. If it makes me cough, it's going to make my customers cough. No good.

Just saw an advertisement in the latest Cleanfax.

New product that doesn't make you cough?

Ricks stuff works as advertised.

Steve's stuff goes beyond.

If Steves stuff made me cough but worked this good.... I'd still use it.

If it made me poop my pants.... I'd still use it.

I do not use Ricks stuff because it is not the best for my niche.

and by best, I mean it makes ME look good.

If I want to be average, I will do average, use average and buy average.

Since I posted on this particular thread back a couple months ago I had not yet used peroxy or intensity red. As mentioned in other threads since, I find that I really like the VA peroxy it does a great job and deodorizes quite well. Just ordered a case as well as a gal. of intensity green to see how it compares to the red. As far as having their place I plan to use both Ricks and Steve's products both have their strengths. I have built my vlm business using mainly Hydrox which has always performed excellent. I am glad we have such great suppliers to choose from. :great:
