Product Reviews
« on: July 31, 2010, 07:27:38 PM »
I tried 4 products this week from Magic Wand Co. www.magic wandcompany.com  They were;

Magic Potion - This cleaned great .  Used it yesterday on a house that had just come out of foreclosure.  Berber covered in animal stains and nylon that was worse.  Berbers cleaned up great with OP, spotter and Magic Potion.  Nylon cleaned up great with spotter, Magic Potion, OP, HWE, OP.  Cleaned another Berber with moderate to heavy soil and animal stains.  Custy was thrilled, spent 5 minutes on phone this AM telling me how shocked she was, carpets never looked so good, the other guys never got it that clean, may not relace carpet in fall and will have me back to lean the BR's soon.  Used it again this AM on moderately soiled berber with out spotter and carpets cleaned up great.  I'm very impressed with this.  It's good for carpet & uph and comes in a powder.  $113.00 3lb pail / $102.03 3+ pails both with free shipping use at 2 oz per gallon.  I'm too lazy to do the math but I think it will last a long time and be much less than encaps @ $30 per gallon.  Plus it's green & soap free and anti-resoiling.

Trashed Green - This cleaned well, though don't remember as well, had a busy week.  Cleaned a dirty berber and several area rugs.  I've got a little bit left and will try it out next week to try & compare with Magic Potion.  This product is supposed to work on everything, carpet, uph, t&g also supposed to remove mold and mildew.  It works at 2oz per gallon, $49.99 or case  of 4 @$44.99 each.  They also have some interesting marketing materials available.

Crystal Rinse - Used in my hot water for rinsing area rugs and nasty nylon mentioned earlier.  Plan on using to rinse rugs and uph when using HWE and Kwik Steam.  Seems to be a nice product.  Like the fact that it acts as a softener and encaps too.  Also recommended for removing urine salts, residue and odor, will try soon.

Stinky Winky - Used it on a fresh pee spot.  Had a dog pee on rug while I was cleaning in other room, used this to clean with and it worked well.

One last thing, I've been using Just Magic from Clean Craft as a spotter for the last month and it's an awesome product.  It has cleaned everything I've sprayed it on.  The other day I used it to clean up a nasty grease spot on the carpet coming out of a commercial kitchen.  A few sprays, some foot brush, a fiber plus pad and a little padding and it was gone.  This is my new spotter.

I'd be curious to know if anyone else has used these products and what they thought of it.

Also what do you think of using a product for OP that doesn't encap?

If it cleans, resists resoiling and is green is that enough?

Good review.

I used some of magic wands stuff when I was hwe, seemed pretty good!
But I would say try masterblend redline prespray. That was my absolute fav residentially.the powder version.disolves as soon as it hits the water, unlike so many powders!

For op it should be ok except you don't have the added benefit of what you don't remove crystilizing and vac'ing out...right?
On light soil it should be fine I would think?

Thanks for the reviews. I have used Just Magic and it was a good spotter but if you mix it too strong it will give you a cough attack.

Did you buy some Oxy Blaster?

They must have improved the formulas on those products.

Last time I tried them they were...............less than stellar.  :P

Oxyblaster works well but is WAAY overpriced now.

Get some Fabpro hard surface cleaner and some Fabpro booster to make your own.

I'll check out that Redline sometime.  This is recommended for bonnet cleaning which is similar so I'm not to worried about what's left on floor.  I think wet pads extract a lot and it has anti re-soiling properties so I think it should be fine.  The rugs I cleaned were heavily soiled with dog pee & poop stains that cleaned up nicely.  I've followed up on both jobs and custys were thrilled

Mo

I've never added more than the directions suggest.  4 oz to 32 oz of water, no cough and great results.

Mike

Maybe they work better for OP than HWE.  I agree with you on the oxyblaster, kind of expensive, I'll check out the Fabpro products.
I'm looking forward to cleaning some upholstery with Magic Potion pre-spray & Crystal Rinse in the HWE, should be a good combination.

Correction on Magic Potion Pricing I stated $113. for a 3lb pail it's actually a 30lb pail - big difference

I've been using Surround Ultra with good results on both residential and commercial carpets. It has taken the place of using Enacp Green spiked with Odorcide and Spot/Boost.

Jeff,

I use Ultra too and have been happy with it, also switched to it from EG, seems to work real well at 4 oz per gallon.

I'd like to have 1 product for carpet & uph, which I HWE, that's why I tried these.

Yes within a couple dollars but free shipping. Also when I use EG I need to add a deodorizer and S/B with Ultra it stands alone.

I occasionally add odorcide and snb to eg, if I do it's always 1-2oz/gallon.  So not too worried there.  It's nice to save on shipping costs though, those shipping costs to add up quick.

I'll probably order some before my last eg runs out.

It looks like EG is costing me $50 bucks shipped per gallon.

What is the cost of Ultra after the special, do they always include free shipping?

Encap green is a deodorizer all by itself too.  Are you guys also saying that you think the surround ultra removes odor as well as other products such as EG spiked with odorcide?

Thanks Jeff, sounds like your giving the ultra quite an endorsement?

Andy-
Cleans about the same.

Grant-
EG deodorizer is very minimal I have never had anyone compliment on the fragrance or even mention it. Ultra does have a odor remover built in as well, and have recieved as many compliments on the fragrance as I do with odorcide.

Maybe I should re-phrase that.  When I refer to deodorizing I am referring to the odor-removal or odor-killing properties of an product, not the fragrance.  Quantum green, for example, kills odor better than anything else I have ever tried with the possible exception of adding 2+ oz/gal of odorcide to EG.  Only issue is that the home might stink for a day before the odor is gone.

OK Guys,

Now that my post has been hijacked and everyone has ordered their Ultra Surround, a great product, what are your thoughts on my earlier questions,

what do you think of using a product for OP that doesn't encap?

If it cleans, resists resoiling and is green is that enough?

The problem with non encaps, it takes longer, needs more dwell time and you use way more pads on a job. Other than that no problem. I used non encap cleaners for 2 years before swiching to encap green.  The encaps simply make the job easier and faster.

I personally will not use non encap products when using pads or bonnets. I know this system works and can be counted on, also when using non encap expect wick backs and quicker resoiling in most cases.
