Floor guy,
First we need to compare apples to apples. I feel free floating handle machines are better suted for residential (more maneuverable) In this catogory you have listed the CCS Breeze vs Challenger titian. Both 17 inch machines. The challenger will operate smother, and should be lighter , easier to carry. The CCS machine is heaver, not quite as smooth , BUT it will out clean any OP on the market. And cleaning will go faster.
The next category you have wheel on the ground machines. I feel these are best for commercial work, but you certainly can use it for residential , In this category you have Orbot, Defender< easy glide. The easy glide is similar to the defender (but with the ccs brush driver it should clean a little better), but maybe not quite as smooth. I don't think you would see any cleaning difference between the Orbot vs Defender, the main difference is price, IMO
Next we have Commercial only machines. The ccs Brute , Orbot with spray borge, cx17/20. These machine make short work of larger commercial jobs, but would be difficult to use in residential (with the exception of the Orbot if you take the sprayer off)
SO if you want mainly residential with light commercial, Look at the challenger titian vs the CCS breeze.
If you'll be doing more of a mix of residential/commercial , Look at the Defender , Easy glide or Orbot. Note: these don't clean better than free flotation handle machines, the advantage is ease of use on larger jobs)
If your doing all commercial work look at the Brute, or CX, or Orbot with spray borge.
In almost every category listed above, the CCS machines offer more aggressive cleaning, while the others tend to be smoother running and a bit lighter.
As far as glides go, all machines above can be used with them or with out them, In residential I like to use a glide with both my challenger, and Defender, Because it's more gentle on the carpet. So whether or not a machine can be used with or without a glide shouldn't play a factor in your decision.
