Hruby OP
« on: December 23, 2008, 11:51:56 AM »
OK - So there have been various comments about the Hrubys and their equipment in another post. I wanted to move that discussion here to keep the other one on topic.

I have never dealt with or met Tom or any Hruby representative. I give everyone an equal shake to start. I have to admit that I own a yellow HOS that I bought used from Chembright to have for backup/small jobs. Have only used it a few times but it seems to work OK?

It does seem they have had some equipment and customer service issues?

I would like to give the Hrubys every opportunity to discuss what might be going on.

Have no comment or opinion on any discussions that have taken place on other boards as I don't frequent them.

I just read Tom's response on the Pad post and was impressed by it. He seems like a fair and honest individual?

Have no idea what history he has with John G but that shouldn't have anything to do with us cleaners.

Thought his comment about other manufacturers was very big of him and accurate. Every OP manufacturer out there today makes a machine with merit.

Not sure what experiences others have had with various manufacturers. I do know that we are a very small industry and the manufacturers that support us are equally small. I'm sure its easy for any of them to get overwhelmed at times and customer service may suffer. Not saying that is necessarily right but I do understand it.

If there is any manufacturer that is consistently providing poor service then we all might want to know about it. I can think of some major past purchases that I would not have made had I know how bad the customer service was. One was to the tune of $38K.

I have talked with Tom once and have spoke with Jeff numerous times. Both very standup guys. Never once have they knocked Johns machines. I have spoke with Patty once right when I first bought my HOS. She told me if I wanted a "real" machine to call them. Wasn't impressed. I have much respect for John G for who and what he has done for this industry. I also have much respect for the Hruby's. Some people like Fords some Chevys. I like both.
We ALL have areas in our business's where we need to grow and improve. Glad this is a forum where people can talk about these things with respect. I like the CCS forum also and there is much to learn there too but one cannot got there and speak of any other equipment but CCS without getting people butthurt.

What does my responce have to do with this topic you ask? Don't really know.....

It does Chem......I like Chevy, Ford and Dodge!  ;D

We can talk about any company here without stepping on the site owners' toes.  :)

By the way........I just checked out the HOS site to see what it looked like. Very sharp and professional looking.

The HOS site is really nice. There is a little plug from me in the testimonial section.. ;)
Jeff even gave them a testimonial. Wonder if he is regretting that now?

CB,

I've gotten the same thing from Patty, i mentioned to her one time that i had a challenger that i was using CCS's glads on, and before i could say any other word...she went on about how their company is better, and challenger is always copying them, bla bla bla....nothing to do w/ what my call was about, i also mentioned to her that i was using a combination of chems from abstraction, to vacaway, and release-it's, and once again Patty says and i recall "our encaps are WAY better than Release-it's", again i was never comparing each product, chems, equipment.  Personally i really don't care about all that, i just wanted my questions asked about what i called for.

I still and will buy from CCS, but i never understood why businesses negative sell each other, one thing i NEVER do is negative sell a competitor, my clients sometimes ask me about my competition and i never put the other guys down, i just show what makes us different, and each company has it's pros/cons, not the "we are the best, everyone is copying us!".

There will always be people copying others, hence there are 30k plus carpet cleaners, someone copied someone else.  Do what works for your company, and do the best you can so you're always on top.

Bill - I like your attitude about competition.

Someone a long time ago told me about the pitfalls of bashing your competition. I never say anything bad about my competition when selling a job.

Don't forget many of the companys we do business with are not run by professional sales or trained business people. Patty and John are great people but not professional sales people. They would probably be the first to admit it. They think their system is best but what manufacturer or business person doesn't think theirs is best?

In keeping with the theme of the post I thought Tom's comments about CCS were professional?

His come back was professional, we all have rough days, and he probably just had to let go that day.

I don't put much thought into drama, as a business owner and service provider, i'm looking to have a piece of equipment that will always function properly on me, the worst thing that can happen to us is once we are at a job far from home the equipment stops working or doesn't work at all.  That is very frustruating, and we've all been there.

I like the orbot in terms of perception for the client, but in the end of the day i'm looking at my little challenger that i got from micky, and telling myself wow this machine has been pretty good to me. I will upgrade to a more "productive" op in the next few months, not sure what the choice will be, but the main thing won't be shiny/good looks but "can i rely on this"?
