carpet cleaning by bjm
« on: February 08, 2011, 10:48:30 PM »
I'm a carpet installer turned cleaner.  I stumbled across this forum the other day and thought i'd join up.  I could use some pointers.
Actually i still install quite a bit of carpet, wood, vinyl, and some tile.  I clean on the side, but i like it, so maybe i'll go full time with it.  I have a Powerclean freedom xt w/ a little giant burner to keep her smokin and use a rotovac for a wand most of the time.  The more i install, the more my knees hurt.  The more my knees hurt, the more i want to clean!  I'm in Arizona.

thx, bryan

Did you modify your freedom yourself?  I know a few people that have that extractor in the name of a TMT unit that have powercleans heat exchangers. They hate the heat exchangers.

Yes, my unit is from tmt.  I looked at one new from there, however, i felt that they were overpriced by about 100%.   I was just about to settle on a hydramaster boxxer, when i stumbled across a guy in the valley that had a tmt unit sitting in garage with something like 200 hours on it.  He bought it for his son who never used it.  He'd been paying on if for a few years, so i just paid off his lease and it was mine.  The heat exchanger is a little weak, but not too bad.  I have problems up here in payson where the tap water is extremely cold this time of year.  I put a little giant burner on my machine, so my hot water problems are gone.  I have instant hot water, at pretty much whatever temperature i desire.  In the summer months i can rely on the machine's heat exchanger a little bit more, but the little giant is a must have in the winter.
